Scientists predict summer pollen vortex

BLACKSBURG, Va. (WKBN) — The lingering winter means bad news for allergy sufferers.

Virginia Tech scientists are calling it the pollen vortex. The temperatures were so cold and wet, tree physiologists said that trees and plants were not able to release their pollen on time.

All that pent up pollen will explode when it gets warmer because there will be trees blooming at the same time that normally wouldn’t be.
