Teen could be tried as an adult in shooting death

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A Youngstown teen is in the Mahoning County jail waiting to hear whether he will be tried as an adult in the shooting death of another man.

Damarrea Harris, 16, is charged with involuntary manslaughter and aggravated robbery in the October shooting death of David Perkins, 23, of Niles.

Perkins was found lying in a driveway along Hilton Avenue on Youngstown’s South Side with a fatal gunshot wound to his back.

Harris waived his rights Monday during a hearing at the Juvenile Justice Center. He was then transported to the Mahoning County Jail.
