Phantoms seek host families for players

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — The Youngstown Phantoms are in need of the Valley’s help for their next season.

The team is looking for “billet” families to host players during the 2014-2015 season. Families would house players, provide food and drinks and, in some cases, transportation for players.

A stipend is given to billet families to offset the cost. The coaching staff said that billet families are a huge help to the organization and the players.

“It is a home away from home. You have that love from the host family. The parents look after the kids, provide that shoulder, just like they would for their own kids. And that is pretty special to be able to provide that to someone from outside the area,” said assistant Phantoms coach Brad Patterson.

Billet families also get season tickets to the games. Anyone who would like to host a player can get more information here.
