Divers find body of New Castle drowning victim

SCOTT TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WKBN) – Divers on Wednesday afternoon located the body of a New Castle woman who fell into a lake in Lawrence County Tuesday evening.

The search for Nancy Ellen List, 26, began after she fell into the lake off County Line Road in Scott Township about 8 p.m. Tuesday. The search was called off about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday because of poor visibility, but it resumed about 7 a.m. Wednesday.

Her body was found just before 2:30 p.m. Wednesday by divers and helicopters from the Pennsylvania State Police and Lawrence County EMS, as well as New Castle police, the New Castle Fire Department and Neshannock Township Fire Department.

According to police reports, Nancy List was fishing with her husband, Michael William List, 29, when the aluminum boat they were in capsized. While the couple was attempting to swim to shore, Michael List saw his wife go under the water, according to the report. He went to a nearby home to get help.
