Mathews’ Eggens tosses perfect game

Cheyenne Eggens pitched her second perfect game of the year as Mathews blanked Southington 10-0 in 5 innings Thursday night.

Eggens struck out a total of 12 batters in the win.

Offensively, the Mustangs were led by a host of players including Jenna Siefert who went 2-3 with 3 RBI and two runs scored. Maddie Williams also drove in three runs for Mathews.

Paula Sponsler finished the night 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Karli Romesberg was 1-2, scoring a pair of runs with an RBI, while Maddy Nicula drove in a run and scored a run.

Mathews improves to 7-4-1 on the season. The Mustangs return to action on Monday against Windham for the NAC lead. The Bombers won the first meeting 3-1, scoring three unearned runs.
