Canfield Community Concert Band holds free concert

CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) — Many packed into Canfield High School’s Auditorium on Sunday evening for a concert that was all about giving.

The Canfield Community Concert Band put on a free show for the community.

All that was required for admission was a donation to Operation Blessing. People could give money or canned goods to help restock the shelves of the food pantry that serves all of Mahoning County.

The group operates out of Canfield Presbyterian Church.

Its leaders said the need in the Valley is greater than many would imagine.

“You’d be surprised that even in your own community there are people who need food assistance. We cover all of Mahoning County. Anybody who wants to come to us,” said Julie Kercher, Director of Operation Blessing.

Last year, Operation Blessing served more than 400 families, including 500 adults and 350 kids.
