Police investigating east side shooting

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Police are investigating a shooting outside a bar that sent one man to the hospital in critical condition.

Victor Alfonzo Rojas-Pena, 27, was shot in the foot, leg and torso outside Mi Raza Bar and Café on Oak Street just after 2 a.m. Sunday, according to police.

Police arrived to find a large crowd gathered around the victim and shell casings scattered on the ground.

Rojas-Pena’s girlfriend told police he was arguing with someone she didn’t know before being shot, police said. The shooter may have been in a red Honda, according to Rojas-Pena’s girlfriend.

Police said they had trouble getting information from bystanders due to a language barrier.

The victim was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center, where he was listed in critical condition.
