‘Women in Energy’ summit to be held

CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) — While touring a North Lima factory last week, Congressman Bill Johnson discussed a summit he is hosting on women in the energy field.

Called “Women in Energy,” the event will run from 9 a.m. through noon on Monday. It will feature women who work in energy-related careers from manufacturing to the executive level.

Ohio’s lieutenant governor Mary Taylor will give the keynote address.

Johnson said he has met with numerous companies, and many they tell him there is a need for young women in the energy industry.

“It’s helping women understand that there are opportunities. Everything from the skilled trades all the way up to engineering, petroleum engineering and other aspects of the energy industry,” said Johnson.

Reservations are required and registration begins at 8:30 a.m. The event is being held at the Mahoning County Career & Techincal Center in Canfield.
