Reuben Shaw

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) — A Warren Internal Affairs Division investigation indicated that Warren Police Officer Reuben Shaw improperly took a car from a residential property June 30, 2013, according to a letter from Warren Police Chief Eric Merkel dated April 18 and obtained by WKBN today.

New information extends officer investigation

Shaw met with Merkel April 24, according to the letter. The outcome of that meeting is not known.

The letter accuses Shaw of breaking several sections of the police ethics code, including utilization of proper means to gain proper ends, private conduct and professional conduct and personnel bearing.

The letter also states that the investigation found that Shaw used his position as an officer to get a towing service to transport the car to a garage he controlled.
