Woman dies in weekend Youngstown fire

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — A fire at Grovewood Manor on Hillman Street in Youngstown killed Marsha Tucker, 65, Saturday.

According to the Mahoning County coroner, Tucker had multiple sclerosis.

The fire battalion chief said there was smoke in the hallway of the building when crews got there, and a lot of smoke in Tucker’s apartment. She was taken to Saint Elizabeth Health Center, where she died.

An autopsy found evidence of smoke inhalation and “thermal injury.” There was no sign of trauma.

Firefighters contained the blaze to Tucker’s apartment, and all other residents returned to their apartments that night.

The case remains under investigation by the Youngstown Fire Department.
