Ellwood City Police arrest woman for arson

ELLWOOD CITY, Pennsylvania (WKBN) — Police arrested Brandy Rombold, 36, in Ellwood City, Pa., Monday on charges of arson, risking catastrophe, reckless endangering, and criminal mischief after they believe she caused part of an apartment complex to catch on fire.

Police believe Rombold gave an acquaintance of hers $20 to buy drugs Saturday night into Sunday morning and never received the money or drugs in return.

Authorities think she then lit something on fire and threw it on the porch of the Walnut Ridge housing complex on Loop Street in Ellwood City after not finding the woman to whom she gave the money.

The porch went up in flames. Minor injuries to a firefighter were the only ones sustained in the incident.  Emergency workers evacuated four tenants from one unit and two from another, according to Ellwood City Police Lieutenant David Kingston.

Rombold is in the Lawrence County Jail on $100,000 bond.
