Canfield’s Hammond to Ashland

Canfield Senior Alec Hammond has signed to play college baseball at Ashland.

A pitcher & first baseman, Hammond is a two year letter-winner for Coach Matt Koenig’s team. This year, he leads the team in posting the team’s lowest E.R.A. and opponent batting average while earning the highest fielding percentage. He also hit .325 as a junior.

Last summer, Alec played for the Baird Brothers team in “B” League ball where he recorded an E.R.A. of 2.37 and batted .340.

In addition to his athletic accomplishments, Alec has posted a 3.3 G.P.A. at Canfield and has been active in a host of extra-curricular activities. He is a member of the school’s Key Club, Young Leaders Club and Concert Choir. He also was chosen, as a junior, to attend an Ohio High School Athletic Association (O.H.S.A.A.) state-wide student-athlete leadership conference and is a member of the St. Michael Catholic Church’s youth group.
