Police believe Hermitage woman stabbed man after cell phone dispute

HERMITAGE, Pa. (WKBN) — Police are investigating a homicide in Hermitage where a woman allegedly stabbed a man after an argument over a cell phone.

Police were called around 3 a.m. Wednesday to the Shenango Park Apartments, 1535 Parke Drive Apartment 1C regarding a man being stabbed.

When officers arrived, they found Eric W. Williams, 32, of the same address, unresponsive in a common foyer of the apartment building.

Williams was being attended by Lashara Wilder, 37, of the same address.

According to police, the stabbing was the result of an apparent domestic argument between Wilder and Williams. Wilder said Williams was attempting to leave the apartment building with a cell phone they apparently shared when she grabbed a kitchen knife and allegedly stabbed him.

Williams was transported to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Farrell, Pa. where he was pronounced dead by emergency room personnel.

Wilder was arrested at the scene and charged with criminal homicide. She was arraigned Wednesday afternoon by Judge Ronald Antos and taken to the Mercer County Jail.

Hours after the incident, many of the neighbors had no idea someone had been murdered at their apartment complex.

“I walked outside to go to an interview this morning and I saw the police out here,” said Keonna Robinson. “I’m like oh my gosh, what happened?”

Investigators said Wilder is cooperating with the investigation.

It has been six years since the last homicide in Hermitage.
