BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) — The Youngstown-Warren Regional Chamber was showing off its new and improved Business Showcase on Thursday.
The daylong event is a way for Valley businesses to share resources and mentoring opportunities. It was held at Mr. Anthony’s in Boardman.
The event was sponsored by the Regional Chamber, Youngstown State University and the Youngstown Business Incubator. The event has been held for 20 years and returned Thursday after a one-year hiatus.
Kim Calvert, vice president of marketing and business services for the Regional Chamber, said many of the components from past years were still present, but some new elements were added this year. Some of those new events were a center stage where live demonstrations took place, including a chocolate making demonstration, a wine tasting demonstration, a fashion show and a cooking demonstration.
Another new event was a “Battle of the Breweries,” where four or five breweries set up tables for people to sample their beers and would later vote on their favorite.
Calvert said the event attracted hundreds of people and was a huge success.
“During the day, there probably was not not a single booth that did not have someone at it at all times,” Calvert said.
Business leaders said the Business Showcase has been a great way to interact with other businesses.
“We just all need to band together, work with each other, try to support each other’s businesses because that is what people who are local business owners should be doing,” said Sandy Reda of Vintage Estates Wine and Beer.
“We have met a lot of people that we would not have met otherwise. I believe that it has been a tremendous help for us to aid us in our journey to get to our goal,” said Brian Alls of Bravura 3D, LLC.
