Man indicted in Struthers murder

STRUTHERS, Ohio (WKBN) – The man accused in a Struthers homicide from early last month has now been indicted by a Mahoning County grand jury.

Prosecutors say Matthew Alexander, 26, shot and killed his roommate Matthew Molnar, 34, following a loud argument and fight between the two at their home on Renee Drive on April 3.

Alexander was indicted Thursday on murder and felonious assault charges. He remains at the Mahoning County Jail on a $500,000 bond.

Struthers Police Chief Tim Roddy said the two men were out drinking at various bars before the shooting happened, but their level of intoxication and any other drug use is unknown.

Police said Alexander and Molnar were roommates for the past several months and they also worked together at Molnar’s business, Steeletown Motors.

Alexander turned himself into Southwest Mercer Regional Police after the shooting and he also was treated for injuries at a Farrell hospital.
