Roads closed for National Day of Prayer

Residents pray for the city of Youngstown, Ohio

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Two roads in downtown Youngstown will be closed most of the day Thursday for National Day of Prayer events.

East Federal Street between Champion and Market streets will be closed until 5 p.m.

Hazel Street between Lincoln and Rayen avenues will be closed from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. A live concert is being held for YSU students.

The streets will be closed so that participants can gather to pray.

According to the National Day of Prayer website, The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.
