Mathews’ Eggens shuts out Badger


Mathews junior Cheyenne Eggens tossed a one hitter with 15 strikeouts to help the Stangs shut out Badger, 6-0 Friday.

Eggens improves to 9-3 on the season, and gave up one walk against the Lady Braves.

Junior Jenna Siefert led the way from the plate, going 2-3 with a single, double, 2 runs and 3 stolen bases. Maddie Williams went 1-2 with an RBI, 2 runs, and 2 stolen bases.

Senior Maddi Grimes also went 2-3 with a single, triple, and run scored, while Meredith Grimes went 1-3 with 2 RBI’s.

Mathews improves to 9-4-1 overall, and 6-1 in the Northeastern Athletic Conference.

Up next, the Stangs play a doubleheader tomorrow against Fort LeBoeuf at Cory High School. The first game gets underway at 2 p.m. Saturday.
