Color and joy fill Canfield skies

Kite fest

CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) – The skies above Canfield were filled with color Saturday as hundreds of kites took flight at the Mill Creek MetroParks Farm.

The biannual Kite Festival was held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

MetroParks played host to the Ohio Society for the Elevation of Kites and Fly Pittsburgh for the event. The professional kite organization brought large, mechanical kites but local residents were invited to bring their kites to the farm.

The festival was free and included a build-a-kite workshop for children.

“I think kites just generally bring back some nostalgia, and they are beautiful to watch,” said Rikki Brammer with Mill Creek MetroParks. “Everybody from the time they were little has loved kites. We can get over 1,000 people a good day for this event. The public loves it.”

The biannual Kite Festival has been going on for more than 10 years.
