‘Derby’ benefits youth program

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – It may not be Louisville, but one party in Youngstown looked like it belonged at Churchill Downs.

The Junior League of Youngstown held its fifth annual Kentucky Derby Party & Fundraiser.

Our own Greta Mittereder acted as emcee for the event that featured a hat contest for the ladies along with dinner and dancing.

Gift baskets and vacation packages were auctioned off to help league’s primary cause: Helping kids get ready for school by promoting healthy habits.

The Junior League had a goal of raising $20,000 at the event. While the final number isn’t in yet, organizers said they think they either met their goal or came very close.
