Family reflects on Covelli’s passing

TRUMBULL COUNTY, Ohio (WKBN) —  Funeral services are set for valley pioneer and businessman Albert Covelli Sr.

Covelli died Saturday at his home in Florida. He was 94.

Covelli founded what is today Covelli Enterprises back in 1959. His son Sam Covelli said that his father was a gentleman.

He explained that his father was hard working, but cared about his family and his employees. He also said his dad was always giving back to others in need.

“What he finds incredible is how great it is that we can have people grow  with our business and better their families that was always important to him and giving back to the charities and giving back to the communities he used to say to me ‘isn’t that a great feeling that we can do that?’  And that was always a big deal to him,” said Sam Covelli.

He also reflected on his father’s overall generosity.

“People who work for him in the store associates, that were going to the prom and they were terrific employees that worked for us at his first McDonald’s, he let them take his car to the prom and he gave them some money to take their girlfriends out he just loved the people that worked for him he really did,” said Covelli.

Calling hours for Albert Covelli are Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament in Warren as well as Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. with the funeral to follow.
