Youngstown nurses donate time at food bank Tuesday

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — Some local nurses are celebrating National Nurses Week, not by taking time out for themselves, but by giving back to others.

Volunteers from District Three of the Ohio Nurses Association donated $1,100 to Second Harvest Food Bank, and then spent Tuesday helping sort food for families in need. The nurses have been giving their time during National Nurses Week for about 10 years.

“We decided years ago that it’s a wonderful service project to give back. Nurses are very health conscious and taking care of the community is important,” said ONA District 3 President Jeannie Mulichak.

The nurses raised the money, and food to donate, at business meetings throughout the year.
