Woman charged with felony assault in Austintown domestic fight

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — Police arrested Margaret Tucker Thursday in connection with a May 6 domestic fight in Austintown, charging her with felony assault after she allegedly shot her husband as part of a dispute.

Austintown Detective Sergeant Jordan Yacovone said that after an investigation and consultation with the prosecutor’s office, it was determined that charges should be filed against Tucker.

Tucker’s husband, allegedly shot in the incident, is in good health and is due to be released from the hospital, Yacovone said.

On Tuesday, May 6, officers responded to a house on South Edgehill Drive in the Wickcliffe area of the township about 7 p.m. Police said they found a 61-year-old male that had been shot once in the lower abdomen. Emergency workers took him to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said a preliminary investigation indicated a domestic incident occurred between the victim and his wife. Officers said the woman fired two rounds from a handgun, striking her husband once.

Tucker’s arraignment is scheduled for Monday, May 19.
