YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The Idora Neighborhood Association has some questions for a local church that has owned the land that used to be Idora Amusement Park.
The group met with Mount Calvary Pentecostal Church leaders a year ago and was told the church wants to build a “Dream Center” on the land. The center was to include a health spa, space where classes could be held and a religion center.
The church has owned the land for nearly 30 years.
James London, president of the Idora Neighborhood Association, said residents and church leaders were to meet again to discuss how the plans were moving along.
“Since that day, I have not spoken to Bishop Tyson,” said London. “The other people under him have called me.”
No one was available at the church Friday to comment on the plans for the Dream Center.
“Bring in a fair once a year, have it for a week. We could have car shows. We could have swap meets,” said London.
London said he doesn’t care what the church does with the land as long as the historical park is put back into use.
