Howland’s Scott picked up by Vikings

Former Howland standout Tyler Scott signed as a free agent with the Minnesota Vikings this weekend. Scott was an All Conference performer throughout his time with the Tigers, and a 2nd team all Big Ten selection his senior year at Northwestern.

“It was just a dream come true,” said Scott. “When I was talking with my agent and he said it’s a done deal, it was kind of surreal.”

Scott arrived in Minneapolis late Sunday and will begin his journey with the Vikings starting Monday morning. He said he will likely start with the special teams unit, and work his way to the defensive end position. Despite all his success, Scott has not lost track of his roots.

“I feel like the coaches I had and the people I surrounded myself with in Howland and Warren and all of the Mahoning Valley…instilled in me many of the values I still hold in my heart today.”
