YOUGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN)  — There’s a new radio station in town.

STAR 93.7 FM signed on air at 10 a.m. Monday and already has a Facebook following.

The station fills the void of JAMZ 101.9, which went off air at the end of 2012.

Getting to this point has been a two-year effort.

STAR 93.7 is an adult contemporary station, but the owner said it’s music anyone can enjoy.

“I think a wide group of people are going to find this exceptionally appealing, specifically African Americans but a lot of non-African Americans will be familiar with Michael Jackson, KC and the Sunshine Band,” said SkipBednarczyk, station owner.

The station is located in Federal Plaza in the heart of downtown Youngstown.
