YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The Mahoning County Green Team is asking for the public’s help to make recycling a little cleaner in the area.
At Tuesday’s meeting of the Mahoning County Solid Waste District, officials talked about contamination at county recycling drop off locations.
Residents are putting items that the county can’t recycle in the bins. Items that are permitted are food and beverage containers, cardboard, and newspaper.
“If you can buy it in your grocery store, it is acceptable. What we don’t want are things like porcelain toilets,” said Louie Vega, Mahoning County Green Team. “We don’t want children’s kiddy pools. We don’t want plastic playgrounds.
