Linsley officially signs with Packers

Former Boardman standout Corey Linsley signed his rookie contract with the Green Bay Packers Thursday.

Linsley was selected in the 5th round last Saturday, and 161st overall. He was an All-State performer with the Spartans, and went on to play center at Ohio State.

He started every game under center his junior and senior seasons, and was named 1st Team All Big Ten last year. Linsley (6’3″, 300 lbs) has been praised for his brute strength, and was one of only nine players to bench 225 pounds more than 35 times in the NFL Combine.

The Packers are in need of a starting center, with Evan Dietrich-Smith signing with Tampa Bay in March. Linsley is set to compete for the starting job with 2013 fourth-round pick J.C. Tretter.
