MYCAP getting the word out

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Making sure people know about resources are available to them was the purpose of Community Action Awareness Day in Youngstown.

More than two-dozen agencies were handing out information at Wick Park Friday to help those facing struggles to become self-sufficient.

The event was hosted by MYCAP, which is one of more than 1,100 community action agencies in the United States.

In Mahoning County, MYCAP offers many services such as energy assistance, education and classroom instruction for individuals to increase the chances that they will secure employment; nutrition services for vulnerable mothers and young children; pre-school classes for young children and transportation for seniors.

The agency has offices in Youngstown and Sebring.
