Newton Falls man indicted on child sex charges

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) — A Newton Falls man was indicted Friday on more than two dozen sex charges involving minors.

Prosecutors said Mark E. Carnes, 54, of Maple Street, was forcing two juvenile girls, ages 13 and 15, into prostitution. The alleged offenses took place in February 2009, according to the indictment.

Carnes is charged with five counts each of rape, unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and compelling prostitution, and 11 counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material.

He is being held at the Trumbull County Jail on $250,000 bond and is due in court May 22.
