Poland ousts top-seeded Mooney

STRUTHERS, Ohio (WKBN) – Second-seeded Poland ousted top-seeded Cardinal Mooney 8-3 in the Division II District Finals Wednesday at Cene Park.

The Bulldogs scored six runs in the sixth inning to seal the victory.

Ricky Svetlak paced Poland going 3-4 with 3 RBI. Chase Knodle drove in a run on a pair of hits. Pat Carlozzi also had two hits.

Jared Burkert picked up the victory on the mound, striking out five in the complete game victory.

Mooney bows out of tournament play with a record of 17-3.

Poland, which improves to 19-5, advances to face Peninsula Woodridge in the Division II Regional Semifinals Thursday May 29th. First pitch is set for 2pm at the Ball Park at Hudson.
