Youngstown cracks down on tire dumping

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — The city of Youngstown is cracking down on tire dumping.

The Mahoning County Sheriff’s Department is already working with Green Youngstown, a city entity, to catch tire dumping.

They are both hoping to work more with the Youngstown Police Department on the problem.

There are cameras installed around the city to catch the culprits.

“There’s so many opportunities in so many different places that we have to find a way to catch them before they do the dumping rather than try to prosecute them afterwards,” said Jennifer Jones of Green Youngstown.

There is already a law in place indicating that it’s illegal to haul more than 10 tires for disposal.
