Toddler drowns in northeast Ohio lake

CANTON, Ohio (AP) – Authorities in northeast Ohio say a 3-year-old girl apparently wandered away from home and drowned in a nearby lake.

The Stark County Sheriff’s Office said the body of Rosslyn Jones was pulled from Meyers Lake about 9 feet from the boat dock on Wednesday morning. She was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Deputies said the child’s mother reported her missing from their home in Canton Township at about 9:20 a.m. The child was found in the water six minutes later.

The sheriff’s office said the investigation is continuing.
