Man pleads guilty to theft from elderly woman

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – A Warren man is awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to scamming a 93-year-old woman out of more than $2,000.

It all started last June when 23-year old Roderick Lewis stole the Howland woman’s purse at the Eastwood Mall.

The woman cancelled her credit cards, but then Lewis, claiming to be a Niles police officer, called her and asked for her credit card information. After that, charges started showing up on her statement, and that is when police got involved.

Lewis pleaded to theft from an elderly person, misuse of credit cards and theft.
