Grand jury indicts former Warren police officer

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) — Former Warren police officer Reuben Shaw was indicted by a Trumbull County grand jury.

Shaw is charged with three felony and two misdemeanor counts including grand theft of a motor vehicle, breaking and entering, theft in office, falsification and dereliction of duty.

Shaw was fired from the police department last month for towing a car from a home in Warren to a private garage on Palmyra Road.

Shaw is accused of entering the locked garage of a home at 2320 Kenwood Avenue and having the vehicle inside towed without permission.

The incident began on June 30, 2013 when Shaw and another officer were called to house. The residence appeared abandoned and Shaw noticed a Chevy Nova in the locked garage. He allegedly told other officers at the scene that he would like to restore it.

Shaw came back to the house later that day, entered the locked garage and had the car towed to a private garage on Palmyra Road.
