Fatal train accident in Struthers

STRUTHERS, Ohio (WKBN) – A man was hit and killed by a train in Struthers.

The accident happened about 2:30 p.m. Sunday on tracks underneath North Bridge Street.

Struthers Police Chief Tim Roddy said the death is being investigated as a suicide.

The train was traveling at a normal speed of 50 mph. The engineer did not see the man until it was too late and could not stop in time.

WKBN 27 First News does not report suicide cases, but we are providing additional information since the incident was initially reported as a death and it occurred in a public place.
