Youngstown murder suspect’s bond set at $750,000


YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) —  A homeless man accused of killing another homeless man in Youngstown is now calling the Mahoning County Jail his home.

Bond was set at $750,000 Monday morning for Jayjuane Hardy, 40, who is facing murder charges in the death of James Robert Syster, 55, of Youngstown. Police said Hardy fought with Syster on Wednesday, leaving him unconscious in a puddle near Front Street downtown.

Syster eventually drowned and was found by man walking in a wooded area near Front and Hazel streets.

It is the city’s fourth homicide of the year.

Hardy is known to police.He was convicted of assault in 2009 and a drug abuse charge in 1993.
