Tractor trailer fire snarls traffic in Hermitage

HERMITAGE, Pa. (WKBN) — Traffic is moving again along Broadway Avenue in Hermitage after a tractor-trailer caught on fire Tuesday evening.

Officials with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said Wednesday there will be sporadic lane closures over the next couple of days for environmental cleanup near the site of the fire.

The trailer was traveling westbound when it caught fire, and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and Hermitage Fire Department came to the scene. A Pennsylvania Department of Transportation worker said the road was closed to repair damage to the asphalt.

The above video shows the scene when our news crew arrived just before seven near the Hermitage Industrial Park. The road had to be shut down while firefighters cleaned up the area.

There is no word on how the fire started.

There were no reports of any injuries.
