2014 Indians Draft Preview

Cleveland Indians Draft Preview

Draft Notes
The Indians will make three picks in the top 38 with their first coming at 21. Cleveland last drafted a player this late in 2008 when they landed third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall at 29. The Tribe hasn’t selected a catcher in the first round since 1976 (Tim Glass).

From last year’s draft, left hander Kyle Crockett (4th round selection) has already made three pitching appearances for the big league club which is a bit of anomaly being that none of the player’s selected in 2012 have played for the Tribe yet. From their 2011 class, Cody Allen (reliever) is the only player to have spent time with the Indians so far. Allen was taken in the 23rd round out of High Point. Cody’s been a nice addition to the Tribe’s bullpen as he has converted 4 saves this season.
