Sparkle shoplifting suspects remain jailed

BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – Two men facing charges from an alleged incident Monday at a Boardman supermarket were in Mahoning County Area Court in Boardman on Thursday.

Kevin Sabo, 37, is facing a charge of robbery. Joseph Holmes, 40, is facing a charge of felonious assault. Both men remain at the Mahoning County Jail and are due back in court Tuesday for preliminary hearings.

The charges stem from an incident at the Sparkle Market on South Avenue, where investigators believe Sabo stole a bag of shrimp and Holmes drove the getaway car and nearly hit a security guard who chased Sabo into the parking lot.

On Friday, they both will be in Campbell Municipal Court on heroin possession charges. Coitsvlle police said they found heroin on both suspects when they arrested them Monday evening at a hotel.

Police tracked the pair down using a partial license plate obtained by witnesses at the store.
