Victim in fatal Hanoverton crash identified

HANOVER TOWNSHIP,Ohio (WKBN) – A Massillon woman was killed Friday afternoon in a head-on collision in Columbiana County.

The Lisbon post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said the crash occurred about 2:30 p.m. on U.S. Route 30, halfway between Hanoverton and Lisbon at Lindesmith Road. A portion of the road was closed for more than four hours while the crash was investigated and crews cleaned up the scene.

The patrol said Kathlean Kennedy, 25, crossed the center line and hit an RV head-on with her Ford Fusion. She was wearing a seat belt.

Police said her 1-year-old daughter, Elli, was in a car seat in the back and she was alert and crying when troopers arrived. She was flown by helicopter to Akron Children’s Hospital in Akron and was listed in stable condition, the patrol said.

The driver of the RV said it appeared Kennedy was distracted by something right before the crash and was looking down.

The crash is still under investigation.
