Neshannock falls in state semis

Neshannock’s softball season came to an end with a 5-4 loss to Claysburg-Kimmel Monday in the PIAA Class A State Semifinals at Hempfield High School.

The Lancers were seeking to become just the second team to make a third straight trip to the PIAA Final.

Trailing 3-0 with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning, Neshannock’s Jenna DeLuca blasted a 3-run homer to center to tie the game 3-3, forcing extra innings.

But the Bulldogs answered back in the top of the eighth, when Kiersten Coho drove in a pair on a double to right off the glove off a Neshannock outfielder.

The Lancers added one run in the bottom of the eighth on a sac-fly, but that’s as close as they would get.

Neshannock ends the season with a record of 18-3.
