YSU installs prescription drop box

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — Getting rid of prescription drugs just got easier on the campus of Youngstown State University.

The school has installed a new prescription drop off box so YSU employees and members of the community can safely and securely dispose of old medicines, syringes and needles. Organizers said it’s a great way to keep prescription drugs from getting into the wrong hands.

“We want people, whether they are employees downtown or employees of the university, maybe the students that are living in the residence halls, to have a safe way to dispose of any prescription or street drugs they may have,” said YSU Director of Campus Recreation Joy Polkabla Byers.

The box is a collaborative effort between a number of local groups, including the YSU Police Department. It is located along West Wood Street.
