Septic tank rules to affect Ohio homeowners

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) — Confusion over septic tank maintenance brought concerned homeowners to Warren Wednesday night.

State Senator Capri Cafaro hosted the town hall meeting ahead of a new set of rules on septic tank operation which will kick in soon statewide.

Among the biggest concerns is how new regulations will affect the sale of homes and property and whether or not homeowners be forced to make expensive upgrades.

A representative from the Ohio Department of Health said most residents don’t need to worry about costly repairs, especially if their septic system is in working order.
