Local department marks World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — The Adult Protective Service Unit of Mahoning County Department of Job and Family Services marked World Elder Abuse Awareness Day Friday by honoring Meridian Arms Living Center for their services to the Valley’s senior population.

As a symbol of that service, all residents got purple flowers donated by area florists.

Wearing purple on this day represents awareness about elder abuse and neglect.

For members of the protective services unit, awareness of senior issues is vital.
