Mahoning County wins Valley All Star Classic

Niles, OH (WKBN)- The Mahoning County All Stars held off Trumbull County, to win 7-6 in the Valley High School All Star Classic Saturday at Eastwood Field.

Mahoning County got out to an early lead, 3-0 in the 3rd inning, but Trumbull battled back with a 6-run 5th inning to take the lead. However, Ursuline’s Michael Montalbano came up with several big hits, and strong pitching by Struthers’ Gary Muntean and Canfield’s Jimmy Leone proved to be the difference.

Montalbano went 2-2, with a double, triple, and a walk, and was named the game’s Most Valuable Player.
