Gas line ruptures in Milton Twp.

MILTON TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKBN) —  It was a close call Monday afternoon for utility crews in western Mahoning County.

Firefighters and repair crews from Dominion East Ohio had to be called to a stretch of Mahoning Avenue in Milton Township a couple miles west of the lake around 12:30 p.m. Officials said workers with First Energy were installing new utility poles along the road and accidentally cut into an existing gas line.

Safety crews briefly evacuated one nearby home and closed the road through the area for about 90 minutes until gas crews were able to shut off the line.

The gas line has been repaired, according to Dominion spokesman Neil Durbin.
