Beaver Township police dog awarded a vest

BEAVER TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A local police dog has an added level of protection.

Hero is a K-9 officer for Beaver Township police. He just received a bulletproof vest from Vested Interest in K9s.

It was awarded to him through a grant campaign.

His handler, Officer Chris Albert, said the vest was specifically made for Hero.

“The vest themselves, its bullet and stab resistant. It cost right around $2,000 and its custom fit and custom made for the dog. Part of the application was getting his measurements sent into the company. It’s about a 12-week turnaround,” said Beaver Township Police Officer Chris Albert.

The vest is only used during high-risk situations.
