Mahoning County GOP looks to fill Evans’ seat

BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) — The Mahoning County Republican Party is accepting applications for Mahoning County Common Pleas Judge James Evans, who is set to retire Sept. 1.

Interested candidates are asked to request a copy of the application packet by emailing mahoning.co.gop@gmail.com.

The Mahoning County GOP has set the deadline for applications for Monday, June 30 at 2 p.m.

The office will be open to receive applications Monday, Wednesday and Friday 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to noon. Applicants can also call 330-629-7006 to schedule a drop-off appointment.

The party will put together a screening committee to meet with candidates the week of July 6, after which the names of up to three candidates will be forwarded to Ohio Gov. John Kasich for his consideration.
