Scrappers drop home opener

The Scrappers fell to Auburn 2-1 in the 2014 home opener at Eastwood Field Tuesday night.

Mahoning Valley’s lone run came in the third on a wild pitch, which allowed Ordomar Valdez to score to knot the game at 1-1.

Auburn scored the go-ahead run in the 8th inning, when Dominic DeMasi issued a bases-loaded walk to give the Doubledays the lead for good at 2-1.

Both Mahoning Valley and Auburn drop to 2-3 on the season. The 3-game series resumes Wednesday at 7PM at Eastwood Field.
