Trumbull All-Stars sweep Mahoning

Trumbull County won both games of the doubleheader at the Mahoning-Trumbull All Star game Wednesday at the YSU Softball Complex.

Trumbull took game one 5-3. Lakeview’s Caitlin McDivitt hit a two-run single in the fifth for a 3-1 lead and Howland’s Olga Grech hit a two-run triple in the seventh.

On the mound, Maplewood’s Brooke Dawson earned the win, giving up just one earned in four innings of work. Dawson also led off the game with a double and scored in the first inning.

For Mahoning, South Range’s Stevie Taylor finished with two doubles. Taylor Tharp (Jackson Milton), Melissa Maiorano (Boardman) and Gabby Butcher (Fitch) had the RBI’s.

Trumbull won game two 20-7. Lakeview’s Caitlyn McDivitt scored three runs and had two hits, Lordstown’s Allyson Hajnosz had two hits and two RBIs, while LaBrae’s Paige Losey recorded an RBI double. Lakeview’s Lauren Casassa and Liberty’s Leah Leshnack each contributed two hits, while Lakeview’s Laura Innocenzi and Brookfield’s Lauren Hawley each had a 2-run single.

For Mahoning, Ursuline’s Macey Gunther was 2 for 2 with 2 RBI, and Stevie Taylor drove in 3 runs. Jackson-Milton’s Beth Ritchie scored two runs.
